Stepping up support for Fort William Bike Park

ALVANCE British Aluminium step up to ensure that Fort William’s superb new bike could reopen to cover the track’s insurance costs.

The new Fort William Bike Park track promises to be an excellent new facility for local people as well as well as visitors to the region.

Developed by local charity Lochaber Wheeled Sports Society, the track includes a 265-metre championship pump track.

Built next to Lochaber High School by pump track specialists Velosolutions Global, it opened earlier in August 2023 to tie in with the world cycling championships but had to close within a day or so of opening after a surprise hike in insurance costs.

Our commitment to supporting the local community has also motivated funding a programme enabling locals to claim a discount at the Highland Cinema.

Tom Uppington, British Aluminium Managing Director said:

“We are thrilled to continue enthusiastic support for the new Fort William Bike Park. The project exemplifies outstanding community collaboration, resulting in the creation of a pump track that will undoubtedly enrich the lives of local residents.

ALVANCE British Aluminium takes immense pride in our involvement in this initiative which underscores our commitment to community growth. Learning of the recent hurdle in the project, we were delighted to step in and cover the insurance premium, enabling the facility’s timely opening. These initiatives, which foster recreational opportunities for both our teams and broader community, perfectly align with our company’s core values of Family and Sustainability.”
