Busy summer for junior Shinty players
It has been a busy holiday season at An Aird, with Fort William Shinty Club hosting jam-packed sessions of Street League Shinty on Wednesday evenings.
Run by a group of volunteers it has regularly been attended by between 60-80 primary aged children who were welcomed with open arms as future players.
The weekly sessions attracted enthusiastic youngsters from not just Fort William Shinty Club, but Kilmallie, Lochaber, Ballachulish and even a few from Oban Celtic.
James Tangney, Lead Engineer of Alvance British Aluminium & Club President of Fort William Shinty Club, commented: “This has been a brilliant community activity over the summer months and Fort William Shinty Club have been very grateful for the funding provided by the National Lottery and ALVANCE British Aluminium to allow them to provide equipment from wooden and plastic sticks to goals to allow all ages of Children to partake.”
