Staff & Contractor Family Fun Day at Alvance British Aluminium

On Saturday 26th August 2023, we held our family fun day with around 180 people. Whilst the rain looked menacing to start with, it was a fantastic day for all those who attended. It was great to see so many people attending, and for wider family members to participate as well. Congratulations to the social committee for organising it, and thanks to all who attended.
Taking place at Fort William Shinty Club, the event hosted Fort William Bouncy Castle Hire, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service allowing children a tour of the fire engine and delicious food from Argyll Hog Roasts & Catering, not to mention the Wild Highland Outdoor Centre, who entertained us with axe and spear throwing as well as providing Mini Landys for the children. Enjoying an exciting off-road driving adventure to remember. Each getting shots to take control of the electric mini replica Land Rovers, manoeuvring through twists and turns, over bridges, along with various purpose-built obstacles along the way. Many of the children also looked brilliant after getting some creative face paint designs.
Again, there were lots of smiles when it came to the raffle prizes which is with heartfelt thanks to the amazing generosity of local businesses who made this possible. Many of us were blown away with the prizes on offer. There was everything from a variety of overflowing hampers, vouchers, a signed Rangers Football top, to a signed sales award Snow Patrol disc and an iPad that were won, but the most sought-after prize as you can imagine by staff was winning an extra day to their annual leave.
There were 35 incredible local businesses who donated extremely generous prizes, which impressively helped raise over £2,500. This will be split evenly between two excellent causes, both the Buzz Project and the Montrose Centre.
A final thanks to The Nevis Centre for the use of the five-a-side goals for the day, A. Kennedy Construction for allowing us to use their marquee and the lovely staff at Fort William Shinty Club for their hospitality.
