Colleagues at Alvance British Aluminium raised £2,416 with the company topping the amount to £5,000 for Highland Action for Little Ones (HALO) through a charity raffle at this year’s Family Fun Day.

Colleagues supported the fundraiser by buying raffle tickets for prizes generously donated by local businesses and contractors. These included an iPad, extra days’ holiday, and vouchers and experiences donated to use across businesses in Lochaber. Unsurprisingly, the additional holiday proved particularly popular.

HALO was selected by colleagues, who were invited to nominate a local charity for the Family Fun Day to support. The nominations were then put to a staff vote, with HALO receiving the most votes.

More than 130 colleagues and family members attended the event at Fort William Shinty Club on Saturday 22 August.

Organised by the site’s Social Committee, the afternoon included bouncy castles from Watch Inflatables, pizzas from G’s Pizza Box and burgers from Woody’s Burger Van.

In 2025, we recognised the need for a Lochaber base to help all children and families in the local area.

“Our mission is to make sure every child has access to the basics they need to feel safe, warm, and cared for. Together, we’re helping children thrive and giving families a little peace of mind during difficult times. HALO Lochaber have a local unit where children of all ages can be referred by different agencies to provide support in times of need.”
