#NoWrongPath – Michael’s Career Pathway
Michael Jones didn’t plan to stay in Fort William long, a 12-month placement as a Dive Technician brought him here, that was 13 years ago.
After studying Civil and Coastal Engineering at the University of Plymouth with diving as a hobby, Michael joined The Underwater Centre, gaining hands-on experience in the subsea industry. That sparked a shift in direction from practical operations to project delivery.
When the centre closed, he took the opportunity to formalise his experience, gaining a PRINCE2 Practitioner qualification in project management, then joining Argyll and Bute Council as a Graduate Engineer, building his skills in civil engineering and infrastructure planning.
Now Lead Project Engineer at Alvance British Aluminium, Michael manages major site upgrades and has almost completed his Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status.
Sometimes a one-year placement turns into a whole new chapter.
