Alvance British Aluminium’s Family Fun Day Supports Lochaber Women’s Aid
On Saturday 22nd June 2024, Alvance British Aluminium hosted our annual Staff & Contractor Family Fun Day, bringing together around 80 adults and 50 kids at Fort William Shinty Club, expertly coordinated by our social committee. Despite many being away at the Euros in Germany, our team gathered for a day filled with fun activities and delicious food from G’s Pizza and An Cafaidh Mara, followed by ice cream from Mulligan Ices. The bonus, of course, was that the weather stayed dry.
The event covered lots of family activities including football, Fort William Bouncy Castle Hire, spear throwing by Wild Highland Outdoor Centre, balloon art and games by Maddie the Children’s Entertainer, friendship bracelet making and a sweety corner. As well as our very own Grzegorz Rybacki, who is our IT Technician and did a stupendous job of providing our musical entertainment. The event also provided the opportunity to support a worthy cause, and we are extremely grateful (nearly) 40 generous businesses that donated incredible prizes.
A special thanks also needs to go to Rosie Flannigan who chairs our social committee and goes above and beyond to organise these events.
Thanks to everyone who bought raffle tickets, we raised over £2,000 for Lochaber Women’s Aid with more expected to come from our lucky squares competition. Lochaber Women’s Aid is a registered charity providing specialist and confidential domestic abuse support for women, children and young people in Lochaber. Every prize was appreciated, and congratulations to the winners who won anything from £250 Amazon vouchers, a tour of Ibrox Football Stadium, an iPad, one annual leave day, 2m3 cubes of logs, various vouchers to enjoy within local businesses and much more.
Tom Uppington, Managing Director of Alvance British Aluminium, said: “We are incredibly proud of the community spirit shown at this event. Not only did we have a fantastic time with our colleagues and their families, but we also came together to support Lochaber Women’s Aid. The generosity of our local businesses and the participation of our staff and contractors demonstrate the strong bonds within our community.”
Thank you to everyone who attended and supported the event and a special thanks to the ladies behind the bar who kept the drinks flowing. We hope you enjoyed the day too, and we look forward to other future events through our social committee.
