Established in 1929, Alvance British Aluminium has been a prominent employer in Lochaber for many years. Production Operator

The Production Operator’s role involves a variety of tasks in the production of high-quality aluminium. We are looking for candidates who show a willingness to learn and will be committed to delivering a high standard of production, adhering to strict HSE standards.

Modern Apprenticeship - Electrical Engineer

We are looking to take on an Apprentice for our Power & Hydro Department at Alvance British Aluminium. The role provides structured on-the-job training supporting electrical plant, distribution systems, and site-critical equipment.

The Course

Duration – 4 years 6 Months [6 months to apply qualification to work]

First year is spent in college – UHI Inverness.

Start date July 2026 (college starts in September)

You will gain: National Certificate (with option to progress to HNC and HND), SVQ Level 3 at SCQF level 6

Salary:

£20,280 per annum

  • Annual Increments each year in September
  • All expenses paid, including college accommodation and travel allowance

Maintenance Electrical Craftsperson

The Maintenance Electrical Craftsperson will be responsible for supporting production and the continued running of the plant by carrying out Reactive and Planned Preventative Maintenance tasks, in a compliant and safe manner.

Hours of work

DAY SHIFT – Monday to Friday

• 41.5H PER WEEK
• 1 WEEK IN FIVE ON CALL
• OVERTIME PAID

What we offer:

  • Basic salary: £39,855.49 p.a.
  • Shift allowance: £719.59 p.a.
  • Annual On-Call allowance
  • Overtime paid at 1.5x basic rate

Controls & Automation Engineer

This is a key role, providing both day-to-day operational support and working on engineering projects. You’ll also play an active part in mentoring and coaching engineers and technicians.

  • Working hours Monday – Thursday: 7:30am – 4:00pm Friday: 7:30am – 12:30pm
