It’s #NoWrongPath week and we’re all in
Good luck to everyone receiving their results this week in Scotland.
This national campaign is all about showing young people that exam results don’t define your future. There’s no single route to success, and here at Alvance British Aluminium, we’re living proof of that.
Yes, we’re a manufacturing business with a lot of engineering but that’s just part of what makes this place tick. We’ve got people working in everything from environmental science, IT to admin, operations, maintenance, health and safety to ghillieing, plus so much more.
Spoiler alert: most of us didn’t take the “traditional” route to get here!
Some joined straight from school, others through apprenticeships or university, and others took the scenic route through completely different industries before finding their place here in Lochaber.
All this week, we’ll be sharing real stories from across the site to show the many different paths that can lead to a great career.
Or as they say in Kurdish: “Hich rêgaye hella niye” – there is no wrong path.
First up, meet Heiman Abedzadeh, our Mechanical Integrity Engineer.
Heiman started his career in mechanical engineering back in Iran, working in petrochemicals before moving to Scotland to complete a master’s at Glasgow Caledonian University. Over the past decade, he’s built expertise in asset integrity, reliability and maintenance, and now leads our mechanical integrity programmes for pressure systems, pipelines and structural assets.
Heiman shared with us what he enjoys at work: “My passion is keeping critical equipment running safely and efficiently,” he says. “I love getting to the root of problems, improving inspection strategies and working with both rotating and static machinery. I also really enjoy mentoring others and building a strong safety culture.”
From 3D modelling to condition monitoring and risk-based inspections, Heiman’s journey is proof that curiosity, experience and collaboration can take you a long way.
Stay tuned to hear more stories throughout the week. You never know where inspiration might strike.
