Alvance British Aluminium Hosts Family Fun Day in Support of Lochaber Mountain Rescue

On Saturday 21st June 2025, colleagues, contractors and their families came together for the annual Alvance British Aluminium Family Fun Day, a relaxed, community-focused event held at Fort William Shinty Club.

Organised by the site’s Social Committee, the event brought over 100 people together for fun activities, including bouncy castles from Watch Inflatables, games by Maddie the Children’s Entertainer, delicious food from G’s Pizza Box and Argyll Hog Roast.

One of the most meaningful parts of the afternoon was the incredible generosity shown through our fundraising raffle, which raised over £2,200 for Lochaber Mountain Rescue, a local charity made up of volunteers who provide life-saving support across our mountains and remote areas.

Raffle Prize Donors

ASW Construction, Boyd Brothers, Briggs Equipment, Cruise Loch Linnhe, DM Taxis, Fassfern Gin, G Joinery, GBRF, Glen Nevis Holidays, Glenspean Brewing, Gorrel Equipment Solutions Group Tegula, Gus Kennedy Construction Ltd, H&S Plumbing, Highland Cinema, Howdens, Intrabiz Scaffolding, JAHAMA Highland Estates, Lochaber Engineering & Welding Services, Logic Alarm Systems, McLellan Funeral Directors, M&S Fort William, Manson & MacBeath Funeral Directors, Nevis Bank Inn & Browns Restaurant, Nevis Centre, Nevis Cycles, Nevis Technical Services, Newco, Off Beat Bikes, Sonas, Spice Tandoori, The Bay Tree, and 3 Wise Monkeys.

This is a cause close to all of us at Alvance British Aluminium. Many of our team regularly enjoy the mountains and outdoor spaces of Lochaber, and this year’s fundraiser held particular meaning following the loss of our former colleague and friend Steven Pollok, who loved climbing the hills and the community around them.

Tom Uppington, Managing Director at Alvance British Aluminium, commented on the event, saying:

“It was another successful annual family fun day and a great chance for everyone to take a break and spend time with their families. What made it even more special was being able to support a cause that means a lot to so many of us here.

We’re especially grateful to the local businesses who kindly donated raffle prizes, playing a big part in helping us raise funds. And of course, to everyone who came along and helped make the event such a success”.

Rosie Flannigan and Lynn Cameron from our Social Committee played a key role in ensuring the event ran smoothly, offering a warm welcome to guests and keeping everything on track behind the scenes. Our other colleagues, Mark Cairney and Peter Dodds, whose support with generators and power supply was vital to the day’s success.

Finally, a big thank you to Anne MacIntyre, the bar staff and everyone at the Fort William Shinty Club, who kept the drinks flowing and helped create a lovely atmosphere throughout the day and also to Iain Ferguson from Alba Photos for always being there to capture and support our events behind the lens.
